How to Download YouTube Videos on Android

Updated October 26, 2026

On Android you can save YouTube videos with Chrome, Samsung Internet or Firefox. There’s no need to install an APK from an unknown source.

Step 1: Copy the video link

In the YouTube app, tap Share under the video (or the arrow on a Short) and choose Copy link.

Step 2: Paste it into Youtube4DL

Open www.youtube4dl.com in your browser, long-press the box, tap Paste and press Start.

Step 3: Download the file

Choose MP4 or switch to the Audio tab for MP3, then tap Download. A notification shows the progress.

Step 4: Find your video

  • Tap the “Download complete” notification to open the video.
  • Or open the Files (or My Files) app and go to Downloads.
  • Most gallery apps show new videos automatically; if yours doesn’t, open the file once from Downloads.

Save mobile data

720p looks sharp on most phone screens at a fraction of 1080p’s size. Download big files on Wi-Fi.

Troubleshooting

  • If Chrome says the download was blocked, tap Keep or check Settings → Site settings → Automatic downloads.
  • If a new tab opens when you tap Download, switch back to the Youtube4DL tab – your file is downloading there.
