Convert YouTube to MP3 in one step
Paste the video link, open the Audio tab and pick a bitrate. The MP3 is encoded while it downloads, so you don’t sit through a conversion queue. Each file is tagged with the video title and channel name, so it shows up properly in your music library.
Which bitrate should I pick?
YouTube streams audio at roughly 128–160 kbps. Converting to a higher MP3 bitrate keeps everything YouTube sends but can’t add detail that wasn’t there, so here is an honest guide:
- 128 kbps – small files, good for speech, podcasts and audiobooks.
- 192 kbps – the best balance for music on phones and headphones.
- 256–320 kbps – larger files for picky listeners or devices that expect high bitrates.
- M4A original – YouTube’s own audio file, untouched. Best quality and the fastest download; plays on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows.
MP3 on iPhone and Android
On Android the MP3 lands in your Downloads folder, and most music apps pick it up automatically. On iPhone, Safari saves it to the Files app; from there you can play it directly or share it to another app. Our step-by-step guide on converting YouTube to MP3 covers each device.
Good to know
Very long videos make large MP3 files: one hour at 192 kbps is about 85 MB. If you only need the audio for listening on a phone, 128 kbps halves that with little audible difference for speech.
