Turning a YouTube video into an MP3 takes three steps and works the same way on every device.
Step 1: Copy the link
Copy the video’s address from the browser bar, or use Share → Copy link in the YouTube app.
Step 2: Open the Audio tab
Paste the link into the YouTube to MP3 converter and press Start. The Audio tab lists MP3 bitrates and the original M4A file.
Step 3: Pick a bitrate and download
192 kbps is right for most music. Choose 128 kbps for podcasts and spoken word, or M4A if you want YouTube’s original audio with no conversion.
Adding the MP3 to your music app
- Windows: drag the file into your music player, or open it with the Media Player app.
- Mac: open the Music app and choose File → Import.
- Android: most music players scan the Downloads folder automatically.
- iPhone: the file plays from the Files app. Apple Music doesn’t import files directly on iPhone; sync from a computer if you want it in your library.
Tips for better results
- Look for an official audio or “topic” upload of a song – it usually has cleaner sound than a music video with sound effects.
- Trim long mixes with a free editor such as Audacity if you only need part of the audio.
